CDs (again!) [08 Nov 2009|06:22pm]

toronto

[spiltpaint]
Hey guys, posted my list a few weeks ago and sold a bunch, but still looking to sell a bunch more. Most are $5 each, some cheaper.

indie, alternative, rock, random stuff )

Leave a comment or email me (touchofspringAThotmailDOTcom) with the CDs you're interested in.

I prefer to meet near my work (Broadview/Danforth) or school (U of T, Spadina/Harbord), though if I can arrange to do more than one transaction at a time I can meet elsewhere in the downtown core.

Thanks!

Went out tonight to try and distract myself - and also, have some company that didn't involve law school (ugh.  I despise the social culture of grad school) or hospitals - but.. it didn't quite work.

Saw Bruce Peninsula and Timber Timber, in a library no less, who were both utterly fantastic.  BP especially just knocked it out of the park and made every little hair on the back of my neck stand up.  E, I'm sorry if I was a little clingy - you're my favorite person in the whole world too and I needed the hand holding tonight.  Though, now I don't even remember if I told you why.

Then went karaoking with a different group and that... was a disaster.  I felt fine to begin with, and then, I don't know what happened.  The gravity of all this, and the weight of what could actually happen on Monday just hit me.  All at once and out of the blue.  And provoked by nothing at all!  I don't think I'd ever really appreciated the full picture until that moment tonight.  So I clammed up and was a complete downer for everyone else.  I skipped out on singing The Beatles and Travis.  Which only made me feel worse.

We left around 1 and I aimlessly drove around for a little while, put some gas back in my dad's car, came home and cried my eyes out for about an hour.  I just.. couldn't stop.  My dad was awake and I just lay down on the couch in the family room while he talked to my uncle in Australia (now, it looks like there's an issue with my uncle in Ireland - nothing serious at all, but just.. another thing to worry about).  I know, I know, I need to be stronger because he's got a whole different set of things to worry about without worrying about me even more than he normally does.  But today I just couldn't.

Sigh.  I have this overwhelming need right now for life to have some kind of rhyme or reason.  It's all so... inconsequential when everything's just a crapshoot.

And it doesn't help that I'm reading The Book Theif.  GOOD GOD, why did no one warn me to read this with tissues in hand?  I love it - and I mean absolutely adore it - but.. oh wow, I should have picked something lighter.

Sorry for continuing to rant on here.  I... don't know where else to go.  There are people I can call - and Amy, you have no idea how much our conversation helped - but.. it's 3:30am.   I don't want to wake anyone up right now.  And my e-mail person already has two from me to get back to.

have I pissed you off recently? [08 Nov 2009|02:27am]

silentruth
so someone posted up my name/email/phone/address on a craigslist w4m ad.
i got like 20 emails and a dozen phone calls and text messages regarding it tonight.
the only people that know my ottawa address were in my house today. it wouldn't be any of them.
highest possibility is my work place, but there's almost no possible way they can get this information.
i dunooo. but you know what? I never knew people actually used the words "I have strong arms, gentle green eyes, and big equipment" in real life. i was thoroughly amused.
i must've pissed someone off really badly
i really want to know what picture they put on there though. since at least 20% of those replies said "is this for real?" or "are you real?" .. 'she' (whoever that pic is of) must've been really hot.. or fake looking..

also, I met someone at work this week that had a perfect black eye. He was there for anger management, so it's pretty self-explanatory why he had it. normally when someone gets punched in the face, it's a little off. it's on their brow bone, or cheek bones, or jaw, but never straight on in the eye. it was so perfect, like he looked like a panda. it was awesome.

Life has been pretty eventful this year. the past few years has been pretty boring.. though i'm not sure how i feel about the events of my life these few months xD hornets and sex ads were not on my list of interesting experiences to have before i die... but it certainly is.. interesting.

Fines [07 Nov 2009|06:26pm]

toronto

[laisse_moncoeur]
Hey!

Who here has disputed a parking ticket? How easy is it to get out of paying the fine? Is it still completely backed up to the point that if I request a court date, I may not even get one and the ticket will just be voided?

Is this just wishful thinking?

Please oh please, make this fine disappear! :)

And just out of curiosity, what about a speeding ticket? I assume these are a little more complicated to dispute?

A faithful retelling [07 Nov 2009|02:02pm]

mbp12
One day I had this dream - it was so vivid and clear that I woke up early in the morning reaching for my sketchbook to get it down. But the sketchbook was too far away and I fell asleep again. However, I kept waking up remembering this particular dream and at one point I finally got to my table and drew it out. This is probably the closest thing to the actual dream that I was able to draw out.

A dream that made sense )

Grills etc. and apartments [07 Nov 2009|04:38pm]

toronto

[spiltpaint]
My dad's birthday is coming up in a few weeks (conveniently just before Christmas...) and once again I am at a loss for what to get him. He lives in an apartment, and therefore does not have a barbeque. He does have a good sized balcony, though, and I was thinking maybe a gas powered grill or electric grill might be okay.

So first, does anyone know what the rules are about gas-powered grills on apartment balconies? I tried searching by-laws but had no luck.

Second, does anyone have any experience with grills of this sort? I'm specifically looking at ones like this one, or this one or this one. Thoughts?

Thanks everyone for the comments and texts and calls and whatnot.  It's been a little crazy lately.  But we have a better idea of what's going on now.

So the surgery's scheduled for Monday.  And until then, we're just trying to be good company for her and her family.  It's really lovely to see everyone put aside their drama and pull together on this.  Everyone except for my aunt, but that's.. well, that's an entirely different post.  For now, what matters is that we're keeping her spirits up.  So if you've got any spare prayers or good thoughts, send them her way.

Between this and school (I had a paper due Friday and on Monday I have a presentation, mid-term and another paper due)... I've been a little offline lately.  So I apologize for not being a great commentor.

I know I haven't even put up a TSS recap but.. rest assured it was brilliant.  And especially given everything that's happened since, it.. was nice to feel as electrified and alive as only Glen's capable of making you feel.  (well, Glen and Damien :P)  Love you all.

Toronto Police & Donations?? [07 Nov 2009|02:09pm]

[kakurete]
I just received a phone call from someone claiming to be part of the Toronto Police asking for a donation for and event or something being held at the Better Living Centre. I've never heard of the police calling for donations and I'm wondering if this is legit or not.

A Friend In Need [07 Nov 2009|09:56am]

toronto

[gwenstylez]
Oh no! My friend and their sweetheart parted ways... we have plans to drink our sorrows away tonight, but...

... what, in this beautiful city on a sunny and mild Saturday afternoon, would you do to avoid thinking of your troubles?

We love exploring, but we're kind of bored with downtown, and the waterfront. Also, my friend lives in the Junction/Bloor West Village area, so we've covered that area as well. Is there anywhere fun (accessible by TTC) in Toronto we should explore? Go for lunch somewhere ridiculously funky? A market or garage sale or church bazaar we could hit?

The city is our oyster today...
